About us
The Office of the Chief Information Officer sets strategic directions for information communications technology (ICT) for the Government of South Australia. It is responsible for developing ICT strategies, policies, standards and guidelines to improve service delivery to all South Australians.
Mission
The Office of the Chief Information Officer provides ICT strategic planning within the context of the State Strategic Plan and Strategic Infrastructure Plan. It implements across-Government programs and initiatives and acts as the executive arm of the ICT Board.
Vision
By 2012 the South Australian Government will be a role model for other Australian Governments in the leadership and management of ICT by:
- transforming Government services so that citizens and businesses Ask Just Once to receive what they need from their Government
- enabling continuous improvement in the operational efficiency of Government. This will ensure that the community of South Australia will maintain their trust and confidence in the services and information provided by the South Australian Government.

Reporting relationships
The Office of the CIO sits within the Department for Transport, Energy and Infrastructure (DTEI). The CIO reports through the Chief Executive of DTEI, Jim Hallion, to the Minister for Infrastructure, the Hon Patrick Conlon MP.
The Minister has responsibility for across-government planning, prioritising government ICT infrastructure and oversight of the Future ICT procurement initiatives.
