Governance

ICT Governance – what is it and how does it work?

The ICT Governance Framework describes the bodies (boards, committees and groups) that are formed to discuss ideas, create proposals and provide direction in the way much of our technology is bought and built.

This framework will assist decision making on ICT investments and help to achieve a balance of quality, risk and value in line with strategic directions.

Committees and Groups

The ICT Governance Framework is comprised of both formal committees and informal groups.  Formal committees at both across-government and departmental levels are empowered with decision-making rights.  Committees responsible for ICT governance activities include the ICT Board as well as agency governance structures.

ICT Board

The ICT Board provides strategic leadership and governance of ICT services and initiatives, and oversees strategic ICT planning activities, for the whole of the SA Government.  The ICT Board directs, monitors and oversees evaluation of mechanisms to account for and manage the impact of all policy and planning decisions on ICT capacity and capability.
