Policies and Standards
OCIO policies are high-level statements of position or intent in regards to ICT decisions or operations. Policies developed by the OCIO provide concise descriptions of acceptable courses of action for ICT and business-unit management. Coupled with projects/programmes, policies support strategy. Policies are broad and descriptive, as distinct from standards which are specific and prescriptive. The policies and standards published by OCIO
- underpin the across-government Enterprise Architecture and its associated business process, application, data/information and technology components.
- facilitate consistent and cost effective procurement of service provision arrangements across government and specifiy governance and security requirements.
OCIO policies and standards apply to all SA Government agencies and instrumentalities. Exemptions may be granted under certain circumstances. A review date for each policy and standard is included among the metadata for the document.
