Internet Domain Name Registration Guidelines
Applying for a .sa.gov.au Domain Name
External (Internet) .sa.gov.au Domain Name
To apply for a .sa.gov.au domain name please first read the South Australian Domain Guidelines and Notes on Domain Registration. Also available for your information are Treasurer's Instructions and Privacy Information. The next step is to fill out the appropriate forms:
NB: A mandatory requirement for successfully completing this registration form online is to specify the Primary Server Hostname, ie, the Internet Service Provider (ISP) where your domain name system (DNS) information is located. This ISP may be different to where your web site is hosted.
The process of registering a new SA Government Internet Domain is accomplished via a standard web form for all States. The initial registration process for a new registrant will provide a code, which is currently (CXXXXX). This code is used as detailed information about the user to make the actual domain registration process very simple. The registrant automatically becomes the Administrative contact when creating a new domain. A Technical Contact will be the ISP who will Host the DNS about the domain.
On successful completion of this registration form, you will receive an acceptance email. When this email is received you will be required to notify your ISP (where your DNS information is located) to inform them of the delegation.
Internal .sa.gov.au Domain Name
Registration of an internal domain name is required for all intranet (non-public) web sites hosted inside the StateNet fire wall. For example the domain name, government.ics.sa.gov.au, is an intranet which can only be viewed (internally) by State Government employees that have access to StateNet. The internal domain name registration form is to be completed for the registration of internal sa.gov.au domain names.
It is a requirement that a domain name must be used within 3 months from registration.
Please be advised that domain name registration is an EDS service request and will be charged to your Department.
