Platforms

The IT platform standard applies to systems which are new, being upgraded or being replaced

This standard applies to infrastructure that is new, being upgraded or being replaced. Agencies operating non-standard hardware, new software and modifications to existing applications must not (where possible) employ operating system-specific functions in their implementation. 

Client Devices

This document advises agencies of the hardware requirements for desktop and notebook computers and the operating software that align with the Client Computing and Server Equipment Purchase Agreement.


Networks

The intent of this document is to provide definition of the current and emerging standards that are appropriate for use within the SA Government’s data, telephony and radio networks. It contains technologies to interconnect various resources (such as computers and information devices) including technologies, protocols, transport media, topology and naming services.

Services Software

The content of this document is the policy ‘Technology – ICT Infrastructure Standards’. The product facilitates consistent, government-wide electronic communications, maximises technical support capacity by focussing on a single messaging technology, and enables implementation of whole-of-Government e-Business initiatives.


Database Management Systems (DBMS)

The intent of this document is to provide definition of the current and emerging Database Management System standards that are appropriate for use within the SA Government for non-personal (used by more than one person) and personal (used by one person) databases.

Naming

The content of this document is the policy ‘CTO/P6.1 Technology – ICT Infrastructure Standards’. A systematic approach to the naming of email addresses is necessary to ensure their unique allocation and to facilitate the provision of consistent, government-wide security   


Presentation Services

The content specifies the standard for graphical user interface and the desktop operating system in ‘CTO/S6.2.1 Technology – Client Devices – Personal Computers and Notebooks’. It is part of the process for standardising the user environment throughout the public service. 


Threat Protection

This document describes the Threat Management & Protection Anti-virus and Personal Firewall software technologies for, anti-virus, anti-spy ware, and anti-spam for desktops, notebooks and servers appropriate for use within the SA Government.
